about

Trip to the Farm is an old song of mine that never quite found itself. Big thanks to John Galbraith, Spencer Tweedy and Molly Healey who helped me breathe new life into it. They (among many others) inspire me to keep making music. And thanks to Clint McMillen for the amazing cover art collage!

lyrics

The greenery that surrounds me says it's leaving
And it's leaving behind some red orange memories
A trap door keeps unlatching
We keep falling into darkened corners
Just to feel the breathing of the other
This trip to the farm seems to have lost its charm
Now it's time for us to go back home
Get on with our days and set the tape back up to roll

It feels the same to me even if I realize the costs
It's still the same to me even if the clocks run out
Tonight I don't believe in a world outside this town

The recipe on the page I see becomes confusing
When it gets to tasting better less the main ingredient it needs
When the cornerstone breaks the backbone
Of our oh so good intentions
I turn the page to find myself some lonely apprehension
Sitting ripening
The perfect daylight upon me
Oh it's such a relief to hear the songs between the trees
They are enough to set me free

It feels the same to me even if I realize the cost
It's still the same to me even if the clocks run out
Tonight I don't believe in a world outside this town

The afterglow is fading into earthen brown
Tonight I don't believe in a world outside this town
The afterglow is fading into earthen brown
Tonight I don't believe in a world outside this town
